Golmaal 3: so many films being sued!

Golmaal 3: so many films being sued!: The Indian Stammering Association (TISA) based in Dehradun is livid that Shreyas Talpade's character 'mocks people who stammer'.

'Golmaal 3', like so many films being sued or objected to over petty issues these days, is in trouble. The Indian Stammering Association (TISA) based in Dehradun has sent a legal notice to the producers accusing them of mocking people who stammer.

Our source said, "This association has taken the filmmakers to court for poking fun at people suffering from a disability. In 'Golmaal 3', Shreyas Talpade plays Laxman, who stammers, and the others, played by Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Arshad Warsi, constantly make fun of him. The association's sent a legal notice asking to delete the scenes where the character stammers."

Apparently, the producers are in a fix because the film was released over a week ago and it's now practically impossible to remove or delete the scenes. The source added, "The producers now plan to respond to the notice sent by the Uttarakhand court. And they must respond to it before December 14."

The spokesperson for Shri Ashtavinayak Cinevision said, "Yes, it's true that we've received a notice from the Indian Stammering Association. We have not tried to put down any person with a physical disability. The film is an entertainer and it should be taken that way."

Shreyas Talpade argued, "No one does it intentionally and people should look at it in a positive way, as the character I play is the hero of the film. I want to ask the association, 'Why are you all considering yourself to be different when we are not?' We are not pointing fingers at anyone. It is just a character. Today we have so many constraints in making a film, and if these issues continue, then we will have to make silent films." Let's hope that Shreyas' loud and clear message to sundry petitioners saves Bollywood from going back to the silent era.

Box Office Report: Golmaal 3 up and Action Replayy?

Box Office Report: Golmaal 3 up and Action Replayy?: Aishwarya Rai took on Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar battled Ajay Devgan and with both the films having finally hit the theatres, the Box office report card has finally arrived and if the opening day is anything to go by, then it’s the Golmaal trilogy that is having things going its way.

Rohit Shetty’s comic caper which stars quite a few talented and rib tickling actors has demolished all competition from the retro flick Action Replayy which has received a pretty lukewarm response. Golmaal 3, riding high on its predecessors’ success, has been welcomed with open arms by the normal janta.

While Golmaal is going houseful with advance tickets flying off the shelves, Action Replayy is lagging behind and failing to pick up speed. While G3 is having an occupancy of 100 percent in some cinemas, Action Replayy is barely managing 40-50 percent.

But it is expected that as the weekend proceeds, Action Replayy shall recover slightly. But then going by the critics’ verdict, Action Replayy may never reach the stage it wanted to.

Both films have got advance bookings for Sunday but compared to Golmaal 3, Action Replayy is nearly licking dust. Despite the festive Diwali season and the presence of Aishwarya-Akshay, the film’s concept hasn’t quite lured the viewers who are veering towards the paisa vasool Golmaal fun.

Film Golmaal 3 Review - Junction of comedy

Film Golmaal 3 Review -  Junction of comedy: Golmaal 3 packs in all the masala, masti and madness to leave you in recurring fits of chuckles and laughs throughout its running course, even though there’s hardly a substantial story or sense to the film. But then, if you go looking for sense in any no-brainer by Rohit Shetty, then the joke is on you, dear friend!

In Golmaal 3, when the hot-headed Ajay Devgan lifts a hapless Tusshar Kapoor in the air and plonks him arse down on a red hot griddle and the latter squeals like a banshee on burning coals, you can’t help but guffaw. When the stammering Shreyas Talpade gets stuck on words that often start with chu...chu...chu... or gaa...gaa...gaa...or lu...lu...lu...you can’t help but let out a chuckle at the hinted double entendres.

And of course there’s Tusshar Kapoor, whose blabbering tongue catches the consonants few and far between the drawl of vowels. A shade of nostalgia is evoked by Mithun Chakraborty, who revisits his “I am a disco dancer” days and even does his signature jig in a sequence. If any bit of tomfoolery was left, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra are thrown in to do the needful.

The story is about two feuding sets of siblings. Their parents (Mithun and Ratna Pathak Shah) decide to get married in their middle age, thanks to Dabboo (Kareena Kapoor) who’s starry-eyed about a Hum Saath Saath Hain kinda family. But will the warring siblings stay saath saath under one roof?

There’s Ajay Devgan and Shreyas Talpade on one side and Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Kunal Khemu on the other. The two lots can’t stand each other. An all out battle for supremacy breaks out between the two factions even as a thief (Johnny Lever) with short term memory loss (Ghajini hangover!) thickens the plot and confusion as well.

There is no method to the madness created on screen by Rohit Shetty. On a whim, the director decides that a few cars need to be blown up to add an adrenaline kick to the rib-tickling, and there you have cars of myriad colours, shapes and sizes being crashed or blown apart in action sequences helmed by Devgan. On a toss of coin, Shetty decides to throw in a song with some skimpily clad firang babes boogieing with Bollywood brats.

The screenplay itself is a mishmash of stuff taken from popular Bollywood films. Stars and celebs are spoofed with tongue-in-cheek chutzpah. There’s too much golmaal in the script, and dialogues range from pedestrian to slapstick, with even Kareena saying ‘Maa ki aankh’ in one dialogue.

Devgan gets the best scripted role in the whole lot. His loose-tempered character cracks other people’s fingers, carries a sledgehammer and kicks the baddies like they were jabulani. Kareena is clearly having fun enacting a character that plays cupid to the older lot and a peacenik to the brats. Of the rest, Shreyas Talpade does well, while Tusshar’s antics cease to be funny after a while. Kunal and Arshad too add humour in the edgeways.

Compared to the hilarious Golmaal and the somewhat dull Golmaal Returns, the third film is a cracker of a comedy.

In the shell of a nut, this Golmaal is patakha, not phut!

Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan cover on 'Filmfare' for Golmaal

Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan cover on 'Filmfare' for Golmaal: The hit pair of Golmaal Returns is on the Filmfare November 2010 first issue. If Kareena Kapoor is this chic gal sporting a mini denim skirt paired with glam high-heels, prankster Ajay Devgan also gets into his cool dude garb. Overall, the duo makes for a fun and frothy cover page.

Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgan cover on 'Filmfare' for Golmaal
Another laugh riot from director Rohit Shetty, Golmaal 3 is coming this Diwali and expectations are sky-high as the previous two installments were hit. Kareena plays a tomboy in this film who even rides a bike unlike her character in Golmaal Returns who was addicted to TV soaps. Ajay as usual is the ‘Golmaal’ guy, a finger twister, a rugged rogue and a funny man in the third part of the hit franchise.

The magazine spread also has some interesting stories as to why Bipasha Basu will never tolerate infidelity and what Aamir Khan has to say about Dhobi Ghat.

Finally, why is Kareena, the former queen of the size-zero, looking cute and a little chubby on the cover! She now loves herself that way.
